Area Junior ROTC members compete in annual public speaking contest (The Ocala Star-Banner)
OCALA The banquet room at Golden Corral on State Road 200 was filled Tuesday with members of the local chapter of the Air Force Association, Red Tail Memorial Chapter 136. Walker, one of the original Tuskeegee Airmen and a founder of the local Air Force Association chapter; and last year's contest winner, Dianna Bennett, who recently was appointed to the U. The contest, open to all Junior ROTC cadets in Marion County schools, included six participants, who spoke about how Junior ROTC changed their lives. Navy Cadet Petty Officer Rejerio Burton, a student at Vanguard High School, is an ordained minister and honor student. Tarah Bloom, from Belleview High School, said she gained maturity, assurance and confidence through her Junior ROTC participation. The Air Force Association, Red Tail Memorial Chapter 136, meets the second Friday of each month at Golden Corral restaurant in Ocala. read more
