Widely considered an expert in small talk, Gabor has spent almost three decades working with everyone from staff at big corporations to men nervously anticipating a big date, fine-tuning their abilities to converse well. And just in time for the holidays, the author of "How to Start Conversation and Make Friends," is offering his guidance on how to conquer party conversation conundrums. Many people are afraid of small talk, as they are public speaking, because, after all, small talk is public speaking, Gabor said. Unfortunately, Gabor sees the younger generation having issues mastering the art of conversation because of one thing - the Internet. In some ways, it's helpful when it comes to meeting people, but it can also hinder the development of conversation skills, he said, especially for people younger than 30, for whom the Internet is an ubiquitous presence. read more
