The path to sustainability comes one step at a time, said David Chameides, environmentalist, worm cultivator and personal garbage collector. The Emmy Award Winner and now-public speaker told a packed crowd at Chico State University Thursday about things each person can do to make a small impact on global warming. He said a friend religiously turned off lights and unplugged dormant appliances and saved 20 percent on his utility bill. Chameides said consumers can call up their utility company and request that their power be supplied through renewable energy sources including solar, hydro, wind and biofuels. read more
