(public speaking) Keeping an eye on 2010 (AG Weekly)

WASHINGTON Rob Portman, the former White House budget director and trade representative, is hanging out his shingle at the Cincinnati law offices of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey. There he plans to advise corporations on international trade and business while keeping his powder dry for a possible statewide political run in 2010, when voters will cast ballots on both the Ohio governorship and a U. Portman has been keeping a low profile since leaving the administration a few months ago, though he has started doing some public speaking on behalf of GOP causes around the state. He said in a brief interview last week that his new post will not be a full-time job, and that the firm will give him the flexibility to pursue politics and other interests; he recently joined the board of the Nature Conservancy. read more
