Speed reading is about learning to read more efficiently. This is a great skill and a skill which will last a life time.
There are different techniques to reading faster, but you are basically learning to read lines, phrases and sentences as a whole, rather than reading word by word from left to right.
1. Free Information On Speed Reading - Before you go and buy a book about how to read fast, it is worth remembering that there is a lot of information available free on the web. It is worth doing your research in order to make sure that you choose the right route for you. If you are not able to make it to a school for classes there are online fast reading programs which you may finder easier.
2. Finding Free Speed Reading Courses - There are few things of any value which are free, but there are ways of reducing costs. When you start to look into courses it is best to decide which course you would most like to do. If you discount courses because of their costs you may miss out unnecessarily.
You will next need to check with your local authority to see if they have any grants which could be applied to your choosen course. Many governments are currently encouraging retraining and courses for two basic reasons. A student does not count as unemployed - and it is important to keep the unemployment figures down as this can destablise aspects of the financial markets. Also the more qualified a work force is the more versatile they are and this is a good quality for surviving an economic downturn.
3. Free Exercises On Speed Reading - If you have completed a course, then you should have been given plenty of exercises during the course and also others to ensure that you keep up the techniques until they become habit.
If you have taught yourself to speed read then it is important that you either visit your local library to get plenty of text for practice or that you get on the internet and download some exercises. It is important to use suitable text which is followed by questions to ensure that you are not losing any of the understanding of the text.
