Start early with public speaking (Lansing State Journal)

Your child may be a chatterbox all day long, but have him stand in front of the class to speak and he suddenly has little to say in a voice only his bellybutton can hear. Parents can begin at an early age to give their child opportunities to develop confidence and techniques needed to master this skill. As the child becomes comfortable standing in front of his parents, the size of audience can be increased to include family and friends. Simply demonstrating the "big play" from a soccer game or how to fold a shirt or explaining the steps in making a sandwich can be easy ways for a child to begin practicing public speaking. read more
