Applications have been called for this year’s Kerrie Nairn Scholarship for Public Speaking 2008. Now in its third year, the scholarship provides financial support to further a public speaker’s skill and knowledge in public speaking. The winner will also assist senior school students develop their public speaking skills through the program of national activities such as Celebrating Democracy Week - the National Schools Constitutional Convention or the Future Leaders Initiative. Worth more than A$10,000 to fund travel costs, course fees and study tours, the scholarship was established in the memory of Kerrie Nairn, a professional speaker known for her commitment and dedication to the craft of public speaking. The scholarship is open to public speakers, who are presently working full or part-time. The Kerrie Nairn Scholarship for Public Speaking is supported by the Australian government through the Quality Outcomes Program, administered by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. read more
