Tributes to past farmers' leader - BBC News- Topic: public speaker
Myrddin Evans served on many public bodies in Carmarthenshire Tributes have been paid to Myrddin Evans, the longest serving president of the Farmers' Union of Wales, and among its most influential figures. Mr Evans led the FUW between 1966 and 1984 and was awarded the OBE in 1977. Current FUW president Gareth Vaughan said Mr Evans was "a hugely significant and influential person" who would be greatly missed by the industry. Mr Vaughan said he was regarded as a flamboyant and passionate public speaker who was a well-known JP and a member of the National Eisteddfod's gorsedd of bards. read more
